Wobby Joins the Open Semantic Interchange Initiative

We're excited to announce that Wobby has officially joined the Open Semantic Interchange (OSI) initiative alongside Snowflake, Salesforce, dbt Labs, Tableau, AtScale, and other industry leaders.

What is OSI?

The Open Semantic Interchange is an open-source initiative that establishes a vendor-neutral standard for semantic model definitions. The v1.0 specification is now live under an Apache 2.0 license, enabling semantic models to be shared seamlessly across different platforms and tools.

The Problem

Enterprise data teams often maintain the same metrics across multiple tools. Your BI platform has one definition of "Revenue," your data warehouse has another, and your ML platform has yet another. This fragmentation creates inconsistent analyses, duplicated work, and unreliable AI outputs.

Why This Matters for Wobby

From the start, we've built Wobby on a core principle: AI Analysts need semantic grounding to deliver accurate, consistent analyses. That's why we created an AI-native semantic layer with metrics, models, dimensions, and glossaries that our agents use to produce reliable insights.

But we also believe no single vendor should own the semantic standard. Our customers use Wobby alongside other tools in their data stack, and OSI makes that integration seamless.

OSI Support in Wobby

Wobby now supports importing and exporting semantic models in OSI format:

Import: Bring in existing semantic definitions from dbt, Snowflake, or other OSI-compliant tools. Your metrics become immediately available to Wobby's AI Analysts.

Export: Share your Wobby semantic layer with other tools in your stack. Build once in Wobby, use everywhere across your BI tools, data catalogs, and analytics platforms.

This means your semantic layer is portable, governed, and consistent across your entire data ecosystem.

How OSI works with Wobby

Getting Started

OSI support is available now for all Wobby customers. You can import and export OSI-format YAML files directly from the platform.
